LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins. Where is THE LEGO game we all want?

Image
Sorry reader, the 3DS onslaught continues. Whist this gen struggles to find its feet and to distinguish itself enough from last generation, Nintendo's little handheld is just hitting it out of the park and Richie and I are both exclusively playing 3DS games (well excluding a dabble with Diablo 3 and Hearthstone).

I picked up LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (LCU:TCB), the correct position of the colons in the title completely elude me. I'm a pretty big LEGO fan (I guess you could say I was an AFOL) and both Richie and I have picked up most of Traveller's Tales LEGO games over the years, enjoying the gentle but colourfully fun action and the official license tie-ins. By all accounts LCU:TCB is inferior to the Wii-U original but it's fun enough nonetheless. Think, a sand box city with a smidgen of a 'story mode' but by far the thrust and fun of the game comes from finding, collecting, riding, unlocking and buying a cornucopia of widgets, MacGuffins, costume…

Snow in Games vs Snow

Image
In Games, snow:

1) Makes nice footprints that disappear after a while
2) Makes everything a bit slidey.
3) Is always accompanied by music with bells in it.
4) Makes penguins and snowmen appear.

In real life, snow:

1) Makes women stand indoors no matter where they are/ where they were going to.
2) Blocks all forms of transport.
3) Causes horrific traffic accidents.
4) Kills old people.

So there we have it. Snow in games is much nicer than in real life. SUCK THAT SNOW IN GAMES NAYSAYERS.

Palaeo-Guitar

Well, Seeing that Cunzy aint here at the moment…

I though I’d give you a “Dinosaurs in Video Games” update.

Today’s game is Guitar hero 2. Yeah that’s right Guitar hero 2! I’m sure you are all asking yourselves, “Dinosaurs in guitar hero? How? Where ? As if!” Well they are and they are not… there are 2 separate references to Dinosaurs.

First up we have the two player select screen:

As you can see from the above picture it depicts:

- A Mammoth
- Sabre-toothed Tiger
- Some crazy extinct Ungulate. (antelope looking thing)
- An ancestor of the foxes
- An emu-esque big-bird
- Smaller mammals, cats etc.
- A Fighter jet dropping a bomb on them all.

When I first saw this I was admittedly shocked to see some obscure extinct animals just on a 2 player co-operative sceen. But then I realised that this may be a graphical representation of one of the songs, which brings me nicely onto the next instance of “Dinosaurs” in Guitar hero 2:

One of the bonus tracks: Fall of Pangaea, by Valient Thorr

Admittedly …
